ROTARY CLUB
Relay for Life program presented at club meeting
BY RENÉ MCCRACKEN

CINDY KLIEN
Glenna Martin introduced guest speaker, Cindy Klien, at the Rotarian luncheon Nov. 7 at the Cherokee Federal Credit Union. It was soon apparent to those attending that Ms. Klien's job as chairman of the Relay for Life for the American Cancer Society was more than just an occupation. She spoke openly how that cancer had touched her family and then how relaying for the cure had empowered her to make a difference in both her family and the lives of many East Texans.

Next week is designated as the Great American Smoke Out and it really never is too late to quit. Also for all cancer survivors, a green tie event has been scheduled at the Castle on the Lake on Dec. 3 and Cherokee Counties Relay for Life will be the last Friday in April.

Those in need of assistance in dealing with cancer, may use the 24 hour a day hotline (800) ACS-2345 or www. cancer.org. Those who would like to speak with Cindy Klien contact her at cherokeerelayforlife@yahoo.com or (903) 795-3604. Persons interested in the Rotary Club may contact President Toni Meador at ( 903) 683-8899 or online at tmeador81@hotmail.com.
