Group from Class of 1963 meets

Members of the Rusk High School Class of 1963 drove around the square during a recent gathering. They made plans to have a class reunion in October 2008. A group of females from the Rusk High School Class of 1963 gathered Saturday at the home of Judy Ramey Frazer in Reklaw to share memories, fellowship and food. In addition to Mrs. Frazer, attending were Bobbie Lou Acker Stricklin, Diann Banks Norton, Sherrell Bothwell Grogan, Brenda Hendrick Netters, Mary Ann Mayes Patterson, Susan Miller Cohen, Betty Jo Tosh Miller and Sue Vining Jared. Some brought pictures, scrapbooks and copies of The Cherokeean from the late 1950s and early 1960s.

Among the high school memories was providing their own entertainment by driving around the courthouse square. Most reported counting how many times they made the drive in succession on given evenings. As the exchange progressed the decision was made to do it again. They all drove into Rusk and loaded in Mrs. Jared's convertible to make another drive around the square.

During the get-together, it was decided to plan a class reunion commemorating the 45th anniversary of their graduation for October 2008. They hope all classmates will begin making plans now. Addresses and contact information for classmates is needed.
