     Cooper Collie (left) was born shortly after his sister, Hannah, underwent a successful heart transplant surgery at Children's Medical Center in Dallas. Hannah was released from the hospital Oct. 30, and the family is happy to be at home again in Alto.

Christmas lighting, hospice presentation planned
      The annual Rusk Christmas lighting ceremony and hospice presentation will be at 5:15 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4 on the courthouse steps. Details of the lighting ceremony will be announced later. The president of the hospice organization will speak and light the blue tree on the courthouse lawn.

Rusk Christmas parade slated for Dec. 4
      "Gifts of Christmas" will be the theme for the Dec. 4 Rusk Christmas parade. The parade will begin at 5:30 p.m. and will wind through the downtown area. A $5 entry fee or canned food will be charged to benefit the Good Samaritan.

      Glenna Martin introduced guest speaker, Cindy Klien, at the Rotarian luncheon Nov. 7 at the Cherokee Federal Credit Union. It was soon apparent to those attending that Ms. Klien's job as chairman of the Relay for Life for the American Cancer Society was more than just an occupation.
