Rusk takes high honors at annual hay contest
Rusk FFA ran away with honors at the Cherokee County hay judging contest Oct. 15 at the show barn in Jacksonville. Rusk took

three teams to the competition.
These teams won first, third and fourth places.
Also Rusk students, Jacob Vela and Joey Marchetti, won first and second place in the high point division. Each received a $1,000 scholarship.
Jacob is the son of Debbie and Dusty Vela of Ponta. Joey's parents are Marge and Andy Marchetti.
The first place team is composed of Joey Marchetti, Trent Halbert, Jana Hill and Michael Nickle. Members of the third place team are Lori Walley, Tommy Marchetti and Billie Lynn Covington. Team members on the fourth place team are Jacob Vela, Michael Christopher and Cody Covington.
Wells FFA won second place in the competition. Team members are Ben Carver, Evan Shepherd, Ashton Rash and Clifton Yarbrough.
First place team in the 4-H division is Lookout 4-H. Team members are Casey Henderson, Jamie Henderson, Austin Essex and Kolton Barber.

Second place team is Wells 4-H. Team members are Ashley Meaux-Goodwin, Garrett Rogers, R.D. Carter and Laurie Carver.
Third place team, another Lookout 4-H team, is composed of Kaitlyn Hutson, Alex Husbands, Justin Essex and Shelbie Kirkpatrick.
Austin Essex of the Lookout 4-H Club is the high point individual.
