Three individuals were arrested on drug-related charges after the Cherokee County Sheriff's Department executed a narcotics search warrant at 114 South St. in Jacksonville Oct. 23, according to a report by the Sheriff 's department.
When deputies executed the search warrant, three individuals were present at the residence. All were arrested and transported to the Cherokee County Jail.
Arrested were: Stephen Ray Smith, Possession of Marijuana, bond set at $750; Atron Castleberry, Possession of Marijuana, bond set at $750; Carlos Deshun Johnson, Possession of Marijuana and Manufacture and Delivery of a Controlled Substance. Mr. Johnson was also arrested on an outstanding Assault (Family Violence) warrant and Failure to Appear on the same charge. Mr. Johnson's bonds totalled $57,250.
Because the residence is located within 1,000 feet of Buckner Park, which is designated a "drug free zone," Sheriff 's investigators are working with prosecutors to enhance the charges with which the suspects have been charged. Seized in the search were $880 in cash, 15 grams of cocaine and one-half ounce of marijuana.
The search warrant was the result of an extensive investigation by the Sheriff 's narcotics division.
The Cherokee County Sheriff 's Department was assisted in the drug raid by the Jacksonville Police Department and the Texas Department of Criminal Justice K-9 division.
