Chapter begins new year

Texas Beta Omega Master Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi began a new year Sept. 4 in the home of Rona Long. Members were served Italian vegetable soup, cornbread, hot turkey sandwiches and dessert. Year books were distributed, the annual calendar was discussed and plans made to have 25 additional copies printed of the historic "Footbridge Garden Cookbook," which is currently ready for sale for $25. To purchase a cookbook call Mrs. Summers at (903) 683-4848. Attending were Mary Madden, Opal Fitts, Mrs. Summers, Melba Darrow, Genelle Richards, Jimmye Watson and Mrs. Long. Members met Sept. 18 in the home of Mrs. Fitts with Mrs. Madden serving as co-hostess. The chapter will support the state project for Guard Dogs of Texas. Sarah Summers reported the Footbridge Garden Cookbook was at the printers. Mrs. Fitts read a letter from member, Bessie Lunsford. Mrs. Fitts reviewed the book "Faith of the First Ladies" by Jerry MacGregor and Marie Prys.Attending were Mary B. Hassell, Mrs. Long, Dorothy McClure, Mrs. Richards, Mrs. Summers, Mrs. Watson, and hostess Mrs. Fitts and Mrs. Madden.
