LMC president, choir visit Rusk 1st UMC Sunday 11 a.m. worship

Dr. Miles McCall
Dr. Miles McCall, Lon Morris College president, will be guest speaker for Layman Day services Sunday morning at First United Methodist Church. He will be accompanied to the 11 a.m. service by the Lon Morris College Choir.

Dr. McCall is Lon Morris College's 18th president. He is the first layperson to serve as the school's president. Previously Lon Morris College presidents have been Methodist ministers. He is professional speaker, addressing more than 10,000 people per year and has written three books and numerous papers.

Before joining Lon Morris, Dr. McCall was professor of communication and leadership studies and vice-president for alumni affairs at Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches.

He was instrumental in raising $37 million in a three-year capital campaign. Under his direction as vice-president for alumni affairs, the school built a new alumni building on the campus and raised $1 million in additional scholarship endowments each year, including a $3.5 million single gift, which is the largest single donation in the history of the university. The public is invited to join in this special service, said Lester Hughes, lay leader.
