New Summerfield School News
The district will recognize Red Ribbon Week from Monday, October 22 through Friday, October 26. Classes at all levels will compete in a Penny War fundraiser. Money raised from this event will be used to fund the local Angel Tree as well as other school projects. Classes raising the most money will receive special prizes. On Monday students and faculty are encouraged to wear camouflage to "Join the Fight Against Drugs." On Tuesday, students will learn to better understand that "Drugs Turn You Inside Out" by wearing their clothing inside out. The student council will sponsor an "I Can, You Can, We Can" canned food drive on Wednesday to support local food banks. Thursday will be "Wild About a Drug Free Life" day as students and faculty are encouraged to wear clothing featuring animal prints. On Friday, everyone will wear denim to symbolize that

Drugs Give You the Blues." Stewart Regional Blood Center will be on campus Wednesday, October 24 to receive blood donations. Contact school nurse Yvonne Redwine at 903-726-3306 x233 for more information. The PTO will sponsor its annual Fall Festival on Saturday, October 27. The event will begin at 5:00 P.M. and will feature fun, games, and great food. High school honor rolls for the first six weeks include Shelby Cameron and Samantha Chapman, who both received all A's. Students receiving all A's and B's include Ana Hernandez, Robert Melendez, Arely Suarez, Maria Suarez, Brenda Valenzuela, Jose Villarreal, Cade Wilkerson, Bria Mims, Samuel Santillan, Yesenia Zuniga, Leticia Arellano, Diana Guerrero, Brenda Mendoza, Yeni Rubio, Evelyn Paula Suarez, Kimberly Tennison, Becky Reyes, and Jesus Vargas. Agriculture students will begin sales of meats and fruits on October 29. The varsity girls' basketball team will scrimmage Neches at home on Tuesday, October 30.
