Hopson announces bid for re-election

REP. HOPSON
JACKSONVILLE - State Rep. Chuck Hopson officially announced he is running for re-election in 2008.

"Over the summer I welcomed my seventh grandchild into the world. I got to celebrate my birthday and another successful year with family and friends," said Rep. Hopson (D-Jacksonville). "I figured, what better time to announce that we're ready to make another run and get back to Austin to work for East Texas."

When asked about his top issues going forward Rep. Hopson stated that guaranteeing East Texas' right to control its water resources, private property rights, education and continuing to strengthen our border security and immigration laws are priorities.

During the last session, Rep. Hopson served on the House Appropriations Committee and chaired the Budget and Oversight Committee on Judicial Affairs. He is seeking his fifth term in the Texas House of Representatives in District 11, which includes Cherokee, Rusk, Panola and Houston counties.
