Darby re-appointed to water district board During the Monday meeting of Cherokee County Commissioners Court, officials reappointed B.R. Darby to the Neches-Trinity Valley Ground Water Conservation District. Commissioners dispatched a short agenda in less than 30 minutes. Action taken includes approval for laying a utility line in Precinct 4. Interlocal agreements between the Cherokee County Health Department and the cities of New Summerfield and Cuney to provide food service inspections and permits were approved. A resolution establishing rules and regulations regarding the use of excessive force during non-violent civil rights demonstration for the 2007 Community Development Block Grant Fund award for Lake Striker was approved. Another resolution for a county grant between Cherokee County and Meals on Wheels of Palestine Inc. was approved. A 10 percent raise was approved for Dan Conley, assistant court-atlaw judge. Judge Conley's raise was overlooked when raises for other county employees were approved with the budget. A subcontract with East Texas Medical Center was approved for the new women's health program for breast cancer prevention. The consent agenda included monthly reports for Constables 1 and 3; and the license and weight monthly report. Cherokee County Commissioners changed their next meeting date. The first meeting in November will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, in the county courtroom, rather than the regular Monday, Nov. 12. The courthouse will be closed on Nov. 12 for the observance of Veterans Day. Attending the meeting were Judge Chris Davis; Commissioners Mary Gregg, Kevin Pierce, Moody Glass III and Byron Underwood; County Clerk Laverne Lusk; and County Auditor L.H. Crockett. |
