Band Boosters slate

meeting for Nov. 12

The Rusk Band Boosters will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 12 at the Rusk Band Hall. This meeting is on the second Monday instead of the regular first Monday of the month.

Alto Lions plan Christmas

parade Dec. 10

The Alto Lions Club will sponsor the annual Alto Christmas parade at 6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 10. Those wishing to participate are encouraged to meet at the Missionary Baptist Church, 107 Elkhart, at 5:30 p.m. the day of the parade. Theme for this year's parade is "A Family Christmas." Plans are to have the Christmas parade annually on the second Monday of each December.

The Alto Lions Club meets weekly at noon at the Stella Hill Memorial Library. The public is invited to attend. For additional information contact David at (936) 858-4826.

8th grade parents night

planned for Nov. 6

An eighth grade students and parents/guardians night is planned for 6-7:30 p.m. Tuesday Nov. 6 at the Rusk Junior High cafeteria.

Information will be provided about advancement requirement of the Texas Student Success initiative (SSI), testing timeline, success strategies for school and tips for parents to use at home.

Refreshments will be served and childcare will be provided in the gym for children, nine months and older.

Democratic Club meets Oct. 25 in Rusk

The Cherokee County Democratic Club will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, at the Southern Motor Inn, U.S. Highway 69 in Rusk.

The Texas Democratic Women will meet at the same location at 6:30 p.m. prior to the full committee meeting.

"Everyone is invited," Joanna Reagan, club president, said.

Annual Veterans Day

ceremony planned

The annual Veteran Day ceremony at the Cherokee County monument will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 10 rather than on Nov. 11 this year.

Frank Bowden will be master of ceremonies and County Attorney Craig Caldwell will be speaker. Karla Thrash will sing the National Anthem. The Rev. Orville Mosley of Christ the Redeemer Church will offer the invocation.

The Ladies Auxiliary will sponsor the balloon release. Persons who would like to honor a friend or loved one may contact a member of the auxiliary or call (903) 683-5985.

Virginia Goforth will sing a medley of military songs. The benediction will be offered by Chaplain James Dishman. Open house will follow at the VFW Hall at the intersection of Fourth Street and U.S. Highway 69 S.

Rusk High School Class

of 1997 meets

The Rusk High School Class of 1997 will celebrate its 10th anniversary from 7-11 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27 at Sadler's Restaurant, 221 S. Main St., Jacksonville. Appetizers and non-alcoholic beverages will be served. Cost is $20 per person. Chicken spaghetti dinner is

The annual chicken spaghetti dinner at First United Methodist Church will be from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2, in the church fellowship hall.

Tickets are $6.

cookbooks, CDs
