Property use studied

Rusk ISD Board Chairman David Fulton appointed Britt Patterson and Rodney Hugghins to study use of school property by youth teams.

Vicki Beard asked for permission for a youth baseball team to use electricity at the school field for practice.

"All of these boys are Rusk ISD varsity players. With practice it helps make them better and better," she said.

The softball and baseball fields are currently available for use by the public, but no electricity is provided. The tennis courts and gym with electricity are available.

Cost of using electricity at the tennis courts and the gym cost approximately $1.76-$2 per hour.

The baseball field costs are $28-$34 per hour and the softball field, $14-$17 per hour.

Mrs. Beard has checked with Carthage, Marshall, Hallsville and Spring Hill and they all allow non-school teams to use their fields with electricity provided.

Plans are to begin bidding in November for construction work for the new high school gym.

Dr. Jim Largent, superintendent, said he, representatives of the architectural firm and Berry and Clay, construction managerat risk, will meet next week.

Louis Caveness was nominated to the CCAD board.

The board will meet again on Nov. 12 at the administration building.
