David Holcomb named senior V.P., dean at Baylor College of Medicine

Dr. J. David Holcomb has been named senior vice-president and dean of the school of allied health sciences at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. Dr. Holcomb has been a faculty member there since June 1972. Over the past 35 years, he has been in leadership roles in developing, managing, and evaluating allied health education programs to prepare health providers. He is a professor of allied health sciences and family and community medicine.

As dean of allied health sciences, he will oversee three master of science programs (physician assistant, nurse anesthesia, and child psychology), participate in educational research as principal investigator of a five year physician assistant cancer education project funded by the National Cancer Institute. He will serve as administrative liaison between the school of allied health sciences and the BCM administration and other institutions and agencies.

Dr. Holcomb earned his Doctor of Education at the University of Houston, College of Education, in 1969. He received his baccalaureate and master's degree from Stephen F. Austin State University in 1962 and 1965, respectively. Dr. Holcomb graduated from Jacksonville High School in 1959.
