Lankford seeks commissioner post

KEVIN LANKFORD
Kevin Lankford announces his candidacy for the office of Cherokee County Commissioner, Precinct 1.

He seeks the position now held by Mary Gregg, who does not plan to seek reelection.

Mr. Lankford has been an employee of the county since 2003 and has been road and bridge foreman since mid 2006.

His wife is a registered nurse and employed as charge nurse for surgery at Trinity Mother Frances Hospital in Jacksonville.

Their two children are Bryan, a second year student at Tyler Junior College, and Brittney, a junior at Rusk High School.

They reside on CR 1605 near Eas-Texas Farms and Gourmet Gardens.

"My wife and I have been married 20 years. Our home is on family land where I grew up," he says. "We are members of East Side Baptist Church and serve as youth directors."

He is the son of Gladys Moake and the late James Edward Lankford of Rusk.

His mother is a licensed vocational nurse, retired from Rusk State Hospital.

Past experience includes service to the curb and gutter program at Fairchild Air Force Base for two years; attended TSTI learning to operate and maintain heavy equipment; and has worked with heavy equipment in the logging industry for more than 20 years.

Mr. Lankford says he brings to the office the experience and knowledge necessary to build and maintain the roads of Precinct One for the benefit of all citizens and to support the area's economic growth and development.

His hobbies include fishing, hunting and motorcycle riding.
