165 will lose jobs in Lufkin with meat plant closure

LUFKIN - Approximately 165 hourly and salaried employees will lose their jobs effective March 14 when the Armour-Eckrich meat plant closes.

A company spokesman called the decision "difficult but necessary" in order to shift production to other plants.

The company plans to work with other Lufkin area businesses to help Armour-Eckhrich employees find future employment.
