Let's bring back a dress code Have you ever wished you could roll back time to better days? Times have really changed. Take fashion for instance. Everywhere you go, from malls to restaurants the gas station, you see piercings and tattos all over their skin. It is an unhealthy practice and not very glamorous. I have to wonder "why" anyone would want to do that to their body. I grew up when clothes were pretty. Ladies wanted different styles or colors, and the men were well-groomed. Manners, good conduct and good grooming were prevalent. The apparel that some of the young people are wearing today is not in good taste or appropriate. Young men are wearing over-sized pants that show their undergarments, and I have seen some that continuously pull at their pants to keep them from falling off. I see young girls with their midriff plus navel showing and skirts too short, and young people are wearing the raveled, worn-out, faded look. It seems that our county is in trouble. What is going on that the dress style has gotten so bizarre? I believe there should be more controls placed on TV and the Internet, especially content that promotes the breakdown of family values and leaving God out of family living. A lot of this can be corrected by enforcing good rules and guidelines at home and teaching children to be individuals instead of trying to blend in with other classmates. This will give them self worth. It is so refreshing to see a young person dressed normal, well groomed and polite with good conduct. America should stand up and draw a line in the sand about what is decent and morally right and put it into law and enforce it. The dress code should be brought back into the public work place, especially for young people, which would give everyone self pride. You can only stretch a rubber band so far before it breaks. So will a country if you open too many doors that bring down society. |
