Joneses meet for reunion The 66th annual Jones Family Reunion was held Sunday, Sept. 2, at the Cherokee County Electric Coop Building. President Mike Jones of Plano presided. The approximately 85 attending came from San Francisco, Calif., Tucson, Ariz., San Antonio, Irving, Houston, Lufkin, Tyler, Rusk, Jacksonville, Dialville and Gallatin. The family ancestor, Benjamin Franklin Jones and his father-inlaw H.T. Uzzle, both served in the Confederate States Army and both are buried at Rocky Springs Cemetery. Benjamin Franklin Jones has only eight surviving grandchildren. Three of them attended the reunion this year. They are R.R. Jones and wife Rose Mary Jones and Hazel Jones Wright, all of Gallatin and Betty Jo Bierer of Houston and two grand daughters-in-law, Laura Mae Jones and Doris Jones, both of Dialville. Also attending were great-grandchildren, great-greatgrandchildren and great-greatgreat grandchildren. Joe Jones of Tyler offered a prayer at noon. Paula Wohnoutka of Pasadena was elected president. The reunion will be held Aug. 31, 2008 at the same location.The Ault Family Singers entertained the group with some gospel music. |
