Pioneer festival set Oct. 13
      Rusk's annual Pioneer and Heritage Festival is planned for 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13 at the Jim Hogg City Park. The event is sponsored by the Rusk Chamber of Commerce. Cities receive Rural Community Affairs grants
      Representatives of the cities of Alto and Jacksonville received $250,000 grants from the Office of Rural Community Affairs in ceremonies Sept. 20 at the Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center in Athens. Jacksonville will use its grant money for water and sewer renovation.

Teacher will participate in art show
      Arthur Sekula has been selected to participate in the 60th annual River Art Show and Festival in San Antonio. The show will be in the historic artisans' village of La Villita Oct. 6-7. Mr. Sekula is a watercolor artist. He teaches sixth-12th grade art in the Rusk Independent School District.
