Former Alto athletic director Lucky Gamble remained in the Falls County Jail Tuesday following two weekend arrests.

LUCKY GAMBLE
The Waco Herald Tribune reported yesterday that Coach Gamble was charged Friday with aggravated assault causing bodily injury in a family violence incident.

After posting a $2,500 bond, Mr. Gamble was released. He was arrested again Saturday evening on charges of DWI and unlawfully carrying a weapon.

He was held in lieu of a $6,000 bond on the second charge.

ABC affiliate KXXV-TV in Waco, Temple and Killeen reported that police constructed a perimeter around his home and arrested him at gunpoint. The news report said police considered him "armed and dangerous."

The Herald-Tribune reported that Mr. Gamble had only recently re-married.

Mr. Gamble is currently employed at Chilton High School as an assistant football coach for both offensive and defensive lines. Chilton head football coach Robert Little confirmed to the Waco newspaper that Mr. Gamble is paid by the hour at the school district and has no teaching commitments.

He declined to say whether Mr. Gamble would receive disciplinary action as a result of the two weekend arrests.

Mr. Gamble was the athletic director from 1993-2000 in Alto. He led the Yellowjackets through a long winning streak of 90 wins and 14 losses.

The 1995 team won the state semi-finals but lost the state championship 32-28 to Celina.

Mr. Gamble was convicted in 2004 for assaulting his wife in an incident occurring in 2003.

He pleaded no contest to the Class A misdemeanor assault charge and received 18 months deferred probation.
