Chamber seeks pictures

from 50s, early 60s

The Rusk Chamber of Commerce needs high school pictures from the 50s and early 60s to be copied and displayed at the annual membership banquet in January. The 1950s will be the theme for the banquet.

Persons who have snapshots and other photos are asked to loan them to the chamber to be copied. They will be returned to the owner.

Schochler family plans

reunion for Oct. 6

The Schochler family will meet at 5 p.m. Oct. 6 at the Camp Ground Baptist Church, 294 west of Alto for a reunion. Recent travel photos from the area in Europe from which the family immigrated to the United States will be shown.

Those attending are asked to bring light sandwiches and cold drinks. Information is available from DLSJES@ VERIZON.NET..

FEMA's office reopens in

Jacksonville

The Mobile Disaster Recovery Center, 210 W. Larissa St., Jacksonville has reopened and will remain open through Monday, Oct. 29, to allow local citizens more time to register for disaster assistance.

Already 240 residents have registered with FEMA for disaster assistance. FEMA and the State of Texas have mailed $439,552 in disaster grant checks to county residents.

Sacul Folk Festival slated

for Sept. 22

The annual Sacul Folk Festival will begin with a parade at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 22. Trophies will be awarded for first, second and third place entries.

A drawing for a hand made quilt will be at 2 p.m. Tickets are $1 each.

Vendors, food, bingo, blue grass music and other activities are planned plus the Sacul Opry will open at 6:30 p.m.
