NEWS at Rusk State Hospital There is an ongoing need for used eye glasses and cases at Rusk State Hospital. Contact Community Relations at (903) 683-7327. LMC choir will visit churches Sept. 23 The Lon Morris College choir will sing at the Dialville United Methodist Church and the New Summerfield United Methodist Church Sunday, Sept. 23. The choir will be at the Dialville church at 9 a.m. and the New Summerfield church at 11 a.m. The Rev. Ray Prince, pastor, extends an invitation to the public to attend these special services. Dinner planned to benefit cancer patient A benefit Jambalaya dinner is planned for noon until 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, at the Rusk First United Methodist Church. Tickets are $5 each and may be purchased from DeeDee Rigsby by e-mail cdrigs@peoplepc. com. All proceeds will go to a local resident and his family. The man has been diagnosed with lung cancer and has no insurance. There will be a blood drive that same day beginning at 11 a.m. Orders for the dinner and information on the dinner and blood drive may be obtained by calling (903) 683-1995 or (903) 810-7380. RHS Annuals have arrived The 2006-07 yearbooks have arrived and can be picked up at Rusk High School, Room 8, from 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 20-3:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 21. There are a few extras that may be purchased at that time for $35. Previous years copies may be purchased for $10. Not all years are available. Jacksonville High School Drama Department stages 1st production The Jacksonville High School Drama Department will kick-off the 2007-08 season with the play "Rabbit Hole" by David Lindsay-Abaire. The production will be presented in the high school auditorium at 7:30 p.m. Tuesdays, Sept. 18 and 25. The performance is a "pay as you can" production. The play won the 2006 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. It is the story of Becca and Howie Corbett, a family with everything they could ever want, until a life altering accident turns their world upside down and leaves the couple drifting perilously apart. The Rabbit Hole charts the bittersweet search for comfort in the darkest of places and for a path that will bring them back into the light of day. The JHS cast includes Kathryn Smith and Austin Strong, seniors; Kaiti Turney and Dusty Spraggins, juniors; and Alec Blouin and L. J. Johnson, sophomores. |
