United Fund kicks off its campaign United Fund of Cherokee County will officially kick off the annual fund raising campaign at noon Monday, Sept. 10, when the major division gets underway. Chairing the major division is Brett Brewer and the kickoff luncheon will be at noon at the Norman Activity Center, Rob Beall, president of the organization, said. Judy Garner heads the Rusk Division which will get underway at noon Tuesday, Sept. 18, at a workers' luncheon at Southern Cherokee Federal Credit Union. All captains and workers in the divisions will attend. Goal of the campaign this year is $115,000. Funds raised during the campaign will be distributed to the 18 participating agencies during 2008. The employee division, chaired by George Baker, is set to get underway at noon Tuesday, Sept. 11, in the directors' room at Trinity Mother Frances Hospital in Jacksonville. The general division, led by Becky Bailey, will start Monday, Sept. 17, in the board room at East Texas Medical Center in Jacksonville. Agencies participating are Cherokee County Child and Family Services, Christmas Cheer, HOPE (Helping Others Pursue Enrichment), Jacksonville Literacy Council, DARE (Drug Awareness Resistance Education). Also, Eagles Nest, Cherokee County Sheltered Workshop, ACCESS, Red Cross, East Texas Council on Alcohol and Drug Abuse, Salvation Army, Cherokee County Crisis Center, CASA, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts of America, Meals on Wheels, Good Samaritan and Living Alternatives. |
