Cherokee County Crime Stoppers is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and indictment of a person or persons involved in the Aug. 26 shooting at a home in Cuney.

Khiem Kim Thach, 56, and his wife, Linh Thach, 51, were wounded when shots were fired into their home on U.S. Highway 175 at Cuney. Mr. and Mrs. Thach are owners and operators of T's Discount Liquor Store, located across U.S. Highway 175 from their home.

Sheriff James Campbell said Mr. and Mrs. Thach heard someone knocking at their door around 11:30 p.m. Aug. 26. Then, shots were fired through a window and hit Mrs. Thach in the left arm, with the bullet going into her left chest cavity. Mr. Thach was shot in the left arm.

He dragged his wife away from the window, got a gun and returned the fire. Approximately eight rounds of bullets were fired in the incident prior to Mr. Thach calling 911.

The couple was taken by ambulance to East Texas Medical Center Jacksonville where he was treated and released. Mrs. Thach was transferred to East Texas Medical Center Tyler, where she underwent surgery Thursday afternoon and was reported in good condition.
