When a team's quarterback is recruited as an athlete, it usually means the team will scramble throughout two-adays to find a suitable replacement. That's not the case for the Alto Yellowjackets.

Jacket Head Coach Keith Gardner named Lance Low as the starting quarterback on the first day of practice and has a lot of good things to say about his new signal caller.

"Lance is doing a good job," coach Gardner said. "This is his first year to get a bunch of snaps, but it's his third year in this system. He looks good."

Coach Gardner said Low's strength is in his experience. This is Low's third year in the Jacket offense.

"He's a good leader," coach Gardner added. "He wants to win. That combination, along with his work habits rub off on the rest of the team."

Low will not have to carry the Jacket offense. He has many targets to throw to in Trevor Hagerty, Jacob Wade, Michael Parker and others.

Tarlandus l Mitchell will play running back and back-up quarterback. Alto Head Coach Keith Gardner said Mitchell is a tremendous talent with great work habits.
He will be flanked by running backs Marcuse Gaseway, Tarlandus Mitchell, Demarcus Griffin and Devon Patton.

Mitchell will also serve as back-up quarterback.

"He's a tremendous talent," coach Gardner said. "He has great work habits."

When the Jackets switch over to defense, Clayton Scott will anchor at linebacker.

"Clayton is the ultimate competitor," coach Gardner said. "He'll do what it takes to help the team improve. He's a great leader."

The Jackets open the season against San Augustine at Jacket Stadium in Alto on Aug. 31.
