Yellowjacket fans in Tyler are disappointed
JERRY AND JEAN ANN MOORE

Alto football games on the radio are the "highlight" of our week. We are alums of Alto High School with great pride and interest in our school and the athletic program there.

Rumor has it that Robert Gonzalez, the son-in-law of Marie Whitehead, editor and owner of the weekly newspaper, has made the decision to broadcast Jacksonville games instead....or at least to discontinue the Alto game broadcasts.

Surely you are aware that Jacksonville already has their own media coverage.

Is this new policy based on the "almighty dollar?"

We would prefer to think that the Rusk radio station would continue to offer the love for "community" and "public service" that is so often professed by the paper. "Methinks you speak with forked tongue."

We are hoping this decision will be reconsidered. If not, there is certainly the possibility that Cherokeean Herald will lose some of their reader base....including us.

We would be interested in knowing just "why" the decision was made to discontinue the Alto football games on the radio. If there is a reasonable answer....(other than the monetary one) we would like to know what it is. Maybe you can publish that reason in your weekly paper. I am sure a lot of Alto folks would appreciate that.

We are truly disappointed that we can't follow the Alto games on the radio as we would like to.
