Ten Commandments are missing from our lives It is really amazing that good old common sense is disappearing, and I might as well throw in common decency also. Let's start with the Ten Commandments. I can not understand why anyone would oppose them. I will list each one in case some reader has not read them in the Bible. • Thou shall have no other Gods before me; • Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image; • Thou shall not take the name of the Lord Thy God in vain; • Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy; • Honor thy father and thy mother; • Thou shalt not kill; • Thou shall not commit adultery; • Thou shall not steal; • Thou shalt not bear false witness; • Thou shalt not covet. This is a guide line to live our lives by. I for one can not find a thing in the Ten Commandments that would hurt anyone. If we do not have rules and high principles to live by then everything begins to get out of control .... the quality of life starts to deteriorate .... people do what they want to. I see a lot of that now-a-days, and it isn't pleasant to look upon. It still troubles me that someone who didn't believe in God had the Ten Commandments taken out of our schools. This is a free country .... what happened to our freedom that day. We must not forget that our country was founded on God and the Bible by our forefathers. We should all stand up and start getting the Ten Commandments back into our schools and public places. I also believe that if we still had the Ten Commandments hanging where it should be that common decency would not be an issue today. I am wondering what happened to our country .... there seem to be no guidelines for television or the internet. It seems that another door has been opened wide to show all the bad things that we once opposed. Our young people are soaking it up like a sponge .... especially the bad taste in clothes and conduct. This comes to mind what happened to saying "no" to outlandish fashion and teaching children how to dress decent and respectful. What happened to the pretty clothes? In my opinion the Ten Commandments should hang in every home, in every school, and every public place and read each day. There would be less crime and corruption in our country and common decency would make a come back. |
