GARLAND WATTS FLETCHER Funeral for Garland Watts Fletcher, 74, of Rusk will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 8, in Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Don Copeland officiating. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery. Mr. Fletcher died Aug. 4. He was born Feb. 6, 1933, to the late Wiltz Watts and Ruth Goodwin Fletcher. He grew up in Hamlin. He was a resident of Rusk for seven years and formerly of Montgomery County, where he was a member of Honea Baptist Church. He was a member of Pipefitters Local 211 in Pasadena. Preceding him in death were his wife Lila Fletcher on Aug. 4, 2004; his mother-in-law, Mildred Williams, Nov. 8, 2006; and a son Jason Fletcher, Oct. 14, 1988. Survivors are a son and daughter-in-law, David Scott and Rebecca Fletcher of Rusk; three bothers and sister-inlaw, Lane and Beth Fletcher of Hamlin, Robert Fletcher of Hamlin and Mark Fletcher of Nebraska; sister and brotherin law, Patsy and Bo Newland of Hamlin; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Pallbearers will include Shawn Powers, Chris Gibson, James Boykin, Keith Clements, Tom Gann and James Thompson Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Frank Taylor, James Armstrong, Chip Harris, Bo Newland, Milburn Newland, Lane Fletcher, Robert Fletcher, Mark Fletcher, Jimmy Boykin and Michael Boykin. |
