Funeral for Harry Smith, 88, of Frankston was at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Frankston United Methodist Church Doug Howell officiating. Burial was in Old Bethel Cemetery. Mr. Smith died July 19. He was born May 3, 1919, in Eustace. He was a member of the Frankston United Methodist Church and the chancel choir. He entered the U.S. Army Medical Corp in 1941 serving in North Africa and Italy, where he was a chief warrant officer and master sergeant. He was awarded the EAME campaign medal with two bronze stars. He was a charter member of the VFW Post 5073, the Frankston Riding Club and Trail Riders Assn. Preceding him in death were his parents, Roy and Ida Cathey Smith; a bother, Charles Smith; and a sister, Mary Alice Callahan.
Survivors are his wife, Velma Smith of Frankston; three sons, Ronny Smith and Harry Roy Smith of Frankston and Dale Smith of Dallas; a daughter, Jackie Lynn Rogers of Pittsburg; two step-sons, Gary Sheeley of Bryan and Terry Sheeley of Frankston; two step-daughters, Nelda Clayton of Katy and Karen Howell of Frankston; six grandchildren; five greatgrandchildren; eight stepgrandchildren; three stepgreat grandchildren; and a sister, Edith Burns of Humble.
Pallbearers were Brandon Sheeley, Jeremy Sheeley, David Sheeley, Bryan Clayton, Jason Smith and Roy Westbrook. Honorary pallbearers were Ralph Crouch, Edmund Ortega, James Morris and Frank Harrison.
