An excited Kevin Stingley called the Cherokeean Herald office last week and said, "I'm on my way over to your office, and I've got something important to show you."
Mr. Stingley, president of the Heritage Center of Cherokee County, wanted to drop off some "hot-offthe press" brochures to Leland Acker, a staff writer and photographer at the Cherokeean Herald.
Mr. Acker, a longtime museum friend and supporter, was the official photographer for the new brochure.
"This is great," said Mr. Acker. "I'm happy to have been a part of this project."
Mr. Stingley said that getting a new brochure has been on his "to do" list for more than three years, but lack of funds kept him from getting them.
"Creative Graphics in Jacksonville pitched us a great price that we could afford," said Mr. Stingley.
After leaving the Cherokeean Herald office, Mr. Stingley made his way around the downtown square to drop off brochures and display stands at retail businesses so that visitors can pick up copies of the brochure.
"Last week a woman from the Texas Historical Commission stopped by, and she praised the museum board for some of the improvements we have made since her last visit," said Mr. Stingley.
"We would like to invite everyone to stop by this summer. A tour of the museum takes about 30 minutes, and it's always free, although donations are appreciated, " he said.
New hours for the museum are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays and 1-5 p.m. Sundays.
