Science camps planned at Jim Hogg Park Aug. 14-15

Cherokee County extension office will sponsor two half-day science camps from 3 a.m.-noon Tuesday and Wednesday, Aug. 14-15 at Jim Hogg City Park for youngsters in grades 1-5. Registration is $5.

Deadline to register is 5 p.m. Aug. 3 at the Cherokee County Extension office. Grades one and two will meet Aug. 14 and grades three through five Aug. 15. Participants Aug. 14 will learn about weather and perform various scientific experiments such as Creating a Tornado in a bottle, making rain, making a working wind vane and other experiments. Aug. 15 activities will include information about air, light, pressure and heat by performing experiments like building helicopters and non-flamable bottlerockets, balloon races, building periscopes and other programs.
