Birmingham celebrates Family Golf Month

The USGA has designated July as Family Golf Month.

To help support this on a local level, Birmingham Forest Golf Club has planned several events.

Throughout the summer, children 12 and under are invited to play golf free of charge if they are with a paying adult.

A special rate will also be given to students.

A summer golf clinic is also being planned for July 23-25 for juniors wanting to learn the basics of golf. Times are 9 to 10:30 a.m. or 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Drinks and refreshments will be provided. Cost is $40 for the clinic.

The annual Father/Son Golf Challenge is scheduled for July 28. Fathers and sons of all ages are invited to play in the tournament. Teams can choose either an 8:30 a.m. or 1:30 p.m. tee time. Entry fee is $50 per team and includes lunch and a team picture. Trophies will be awarded to the winning teams in each flight.
