Alto establishes court security fund

The Alto City Council met for several hours Monday evening in executive session to discuss the employment of an employee for the utility department.

After reconvening in open session the council voted to table the matter.

However following the executive session, the council asked the city administrator to interview the three top applicants for a general clerk position at city hall. She will report her findings to the council and a person will be hired.

There will be no time reduction in the city's probationary period for employment. Employees will be reviewed after 90 days and remain on probation for six months.

The city will use $675 of its technology funds to purchase a microphone containing a transcriber.

The council approved an ordinance establishing a court security fund.

Both the technology and security funds are collected from fines.

Municipal court fines will also be increased. The council was told this is the first increase in 11 years.

There was no rain and sewer department damage.
