Fourth of July fireworks are an American tradition, and the safest and best way to enjoy them is to attend a professional display.

In Jacksonville, a fireworks display will be held at Lake Jacksonville, beginning at sundown. The celebration will feature a volleyball tournament and a concession stand.

A professional fireworks show is planned for 9:15 p.m. tonight at Story Elementary School on Loop 256 in Palestine.

The Tyler Jaycees will hold their 44th annual extravaganza beginning at 4 p.m. July 4 at Lindsey Park. Event highlights include a dunking booth, kiddie area, live music, a military flyover and fireworks at dusk.

Cost is $10 per vehicle. For additional information, call (903) 597-4787.

Many residents prefer to celebrate by using fireworks at home. The Rusk Volunteer Fire Department urges caution when using fireworks.
