Hunter course planned

The Cherokee County Farm Bureau will sponsor a hunters education course from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Aug. 7-8 with lunch provided. There must be a minimum of 15 people. Minimum age is 12 before Aug. 7. To hunt out of state this course is required. It will be taught at the ag department at Rusk High School and cost is $15. To participate RSVP by July 3 to Rhonda Robinson at (903) 683-2576.

Rusk State Hospital resale

shop is open 1st, 2nd

Fridays

The Resale Shop operated by the Volunteer Council for the Rusk State Hospital, Inc. is open 10 a.m. -3 p.m., at 545 Castner St, in Rusk on the first and second Friday of each month. All proceeds benefit the patients and programs at Rusk State Hospital. For information, call (903) 683-7327.

Delivery persons needed

for Meals on Wheels

program

Meals On Wheels is in need of drivers to deliver food to homebound persons. Persons interested in volunteering are asked to contact Boots Burfoot at (903)683-5858 or Sarah Welch at (903)743-5351.

Rusk has two routes and each takes one to two hours. If enough people can be recruited, they would only need to drive once a week or every other week. Most volunteers deliver twice a month and spend one to two hours each time. The Rusk site delivers approximately 25 meals a day, five days per week, except on holidays.

Drivers License renewals

Representatives of the Department of Public Safety Drivers License Division are in Rusk at the courthouse annex building, 201 E. Sixth St., on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. The office is open from 8:30 a.m.-noon and 1-4:15 p.m. both days. Additional information is available at (903) 683- 6037.

Summer hours set

at Stella Hill Library

The Stella Hill Library began summer hours on June 26. The library will be open from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. The children's story hour will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursdays, the same time as previous summers.

Volunteers are sought

Volunteers are needed at East Texas Medical Center Rusk. Persons interested in becoming a volunteer may contact Becky Ford, clinic manager, at (903) 683-3604.
