It's a dog-gone shame to dump dogs in the county

This dog and a companion animal, both about six months old, were recently reported by a resident living on FM 752 near the intersection of CR 2406 west of Alto.

Sheriff James Campbell said he does not know if the animals were dumped or whether they wandered away from home.

If you think either of these dogs is yours and wandered, contact the sheriff's office at (903) 683-2271.

The sheriff said they are nice, well-cared for animals.

The homeowner agreed to feed the dogs another week before transporting them to an animal shelter.

The maximum penalties for illegally dumping an animal is $4,000 and/or up to one year confinement in jail.
