ODIE LEE BOUNDS Funeral for Odie Lee Bounds, 95, of Tacoma, Wash. was at 11 a.m. Thursday at Thompson Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Leon Ross and the Rev. David Smith officiating. Burial was in Jarratt Cemetery. Mrs. Bounds died June 5. She was born Dec. 14, 1911, near Lufkin. She was a retired Texas teacher with 47 years of teaching experience. She lived in Jacksonville from 1977-2005. She was a member of the Craft Missionary Baptist Church, a Girls' Missionary Auxiliary counselor for 40 years and a Sunday school teacher for at least 70 years. A member of the AAUW, Mrs. Bounds received a BA from Stephen F. Austin University and a MS from Texas State University at San Marcos. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for 60 years. Preceding her in death were her husband, George E. Bounds; her parents, Mary Helen and Charlie Greenwood Price. Survivors are her daughter and son-in-law, Helen and Mike Holcombe of Tacoma; four grandchildren, Jacna AlMallah of Irbid, Jordan, Mark Holcombe of Texarkana, Ark., Lee Margaret Winkler and George Holcombe, both of Tacoma; great-grandchildren, Sarah Helen and Beth AlMallah and Michael Renee and Emily Rose Holcombe; and four nephews. |
