Alto's Mean Sting remembers championship year
Athletes honored at sports banquet

The 2006-2007 school year was a memorable one for Alto High School athletes. The football team won the Class A Division I state championship, the track team sent five athletes to the state track meet, the baseball team competed in the area round of the playoffs and the softball team made it to the regional quarterfinals.
Booster club president J.D. Pearman welcomed everyone to the banquet and Athletic Director Keith Gardner introduced the coaching staff.
Cross country runners Margo Kahla, Fred Wilkins and Geraldo Guevara were named cross country mostvaluable players.
Amber Morrison was named girls basketball MVP while Tyson Mitchell was honored as the most-valuable boys basketball player. Shannon and Trevor Hagerty were the co-ed tennis MVPs.
Jordan Hicks was the girls golf MVP while Ronnie Rose was the boys golf MVP.
Molly Pearman and Kahla were softball co-MVPs.
Tarlandus Mitchell earned baseball MVP honors while Kahla and Tiffany Griffin shared girls' track honors.
Julian Willis was the boys track MVP. Willis competed in the state track meet in the discus competition. Tyson Mitchell and Willis shared football MVP honors.
Other football awards were given to: Ben Johnson and Chase Berryhill, outstanding linemen; Tarlandus Mitchell, outstanding defensive back; Clayton Scott, Head Hunter Award; Jeremy Lofton, outstanding back; David Sturrock, most improved; Tarcellus Mitchell, most versatile; Makio Houston, new comer of the year.
The David Holcomb "We Believe" Award was given to Lance Low. Josh Hudson received the Robert Brezina Outstanding Athlete Award. The Cody Sell Memorial Award was given to Myron Lofton.
The Leland Edge Fighting Heart Award went to Clint Dover. Kahla and Johnson were recognized with the Brains and Brawn Award.
The Ted Moore Award was given to Trevor Hagerty.
The Alto Herald All-Round Athlete Awards went to Pearman and Willis.
