AVIS LEON BOATMAN Funeral for Avis Leon Boatman, 83, of Jacksonville was at 2 p.m. Saturday at Thompson Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Larry Smith officiating. Burial was in Corine Cemetery. Mr. Boatman died May 7. He was born April 28, 1924, in New Summerfield. He was a chemical plant operator for Monsanto Chemical Co. in Texas City for 30 years. He was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church in Corine and served in the U.S. Army.Preceding him in death was his wife, Billie Terry Boatman. Survivors are a son and daughter-in-law, Ancil and Sherry Boatman of Henderson; three daughters and two sonsin law, Sybil Miller of Santa Fe, Jerri and Rex Hendrix of Leona and Charlotte and Tony Frohnhoefer of Dafhne, Ala.; a sister and brother-inlaw, Pansy and R.M. Caldwell of Mineola; his companion, Hazel Henry of Jacksonville; 11 grandchildren; 16 greatgrandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Will Miller, Doug Hendrix, Andrew Boatman, John Fenn, J.D. Smith and Kenneth Boatman.
