Church plans gospel

singing May 18

Salem Missionary Baptist Church will sponsor a gospel singing at 7 p.m. Friday, May 18. The Relations Quartet will sing and the public is invited at attend.

TMRA 2 chapter slates first

meeting on May 12

The newly formed East Texas chapter of Texas Motorcycle Rights Association (TMRA 2) will meet at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 12 at the VFW Post, 201 Memorial Dr., Jacksonville.

The agenda includes election of officers, development of chapter bylaws and discussion of the purpose and necessity for forming a local chapter. All are invited. Questions may be directed to (903) 721-1120 or (903) 589-0950.

Shiloh slates memorial

service May 20

The annual Shiloh Memorial Day service will be held Sunday, May 20. The homecoming celebration will be at the Shiloh Pavilion two miles west of Alto on FM 752. Those attending are asked to bring a lunch. There will be a brief business meeting immediately before lunch. Donations may be mailed to the Shiloh Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 315, Alto 75925.

SCV to meet Saturday

The General Joseph L. Hogg camp of the Sons of Confederate Veterans (SCV) will have their monthly meeting at 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 12 in the community room of Austin Bank in Rusk. The program will be brought by Tommy Holmes of Carthage. Mr. Holmes is presently serving as the area brigade commander of the SCV.

Writers meet May 10

The East Texas chapter of Inspirational Writers Alive! will meet at First Church of the Nazarene, corner Beaumont and Bryan Streets in Jacksonville, at 6:45 p.m. Thursday, May 10.
