Amy Halbert receives Press Women's award Amy Halbert, a communications specialist for The Texas A&M University System, was named a winner April 28 at the annual awards dinner during the 114th Press Women of Texas state conference at the Drury Inn & Suites in San Antonio. She received two first place ties for feature stories in a publication of general or specialized circulation. Ms. Halbert is a former employee of the Cherokeean Herald. She is the daughter of Barbara and Travis Halbert of Rusk. Ms. Halbert is a Rusk High School graduate and received a bachelors degree from Texas A&M and a masters degree from the University of Texas at Tyler. First place winners in the state contest move on to the national competition of the National Federation of Press Women. Winners at that level will be announced at the annual NFPW conference in mid- September in Virginia. |
