NEWS Rusk athletes scheduled Pre-participation health screenings for next year's seventh, ninth and 11th grade athletes will be held May 5 at the Trinity Mother Francis Health System in Tyler. These health screenings are required before participating in athletics next year. The screening on May 5 is the only opportunity for next year's student athletes to have the screenings offered at no charge. Students will be bussed from the Rusk field house to Trinity Mother Frances in Tyler, then returned. The bus will leave promptly at 10:15 a.m., Saturday, May 5 and will return at approximately 2 p.m. Students will need to be dressed in shorts or sweatpants and a t-shirt. All-Sports banquet slated for May 7 The Rusk All-Sports banquet will be held, with dinner being served at 6 p.m., Tuesday, May 7 at the Rusk Junior High Cafeteria. Cost is $10 for adults, $5 for students in fifth grade and below. The awards ceremony will begin at 7 p.m. in the Rusk Junior High auditorium. Jones finishes 9th at regional golf tourney Brent Jones finished in ninth place at the Region III-3A golf tournament held at Brenham Wednesday and Thursday with a score of 157. Jones' score was only five shots behind the regional champion. The Rusk Eagle golf team finished their season at the regional tournament with a total score of 708. Palestine won the regional championship with a score of 625. FFA meeting to take place Thursday in Rusk The Rusk Future Farmers of America is having its second meeting at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, May 3 at the ag shop at Rusk High School. The FFA is getting a Rusk area buyers group together to help benefit the kids with projects. Alto athletic banquet scheduled for May 14 The Alto athletic banquet will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, May 14 at the Alto High School cafeteria. Folk festival slated at Mission Tejas A folk festival will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., May 12 at Mission Tejas in Weches. Arts, crafts and reenactments will take place.
