Burglary victim applauds police
CHRIS HOLCOMB Rusk

For anyone who has ever come home to find that a stranger forced his way in, walked around, rummaged through your house, and took things special to you, our hearts go out to you. Last Friday, it happened to us. Home is the place you feel safe, comfortable and relaxed. The place where children have grown up, where pictures of your family's life over the years are hung, where meals are shared. After making a frantic phone call to the police, my heart raced, my head spun and all I could do was cry like a child who lost a puppy. Seeing the mess makes you feel so darn violated. I ran outside to wait for the police and found Wayne Morgan getting out of his truck. It might have been "just what you do," Wayne, but it meant the world to me. The police arrived and made CSI look minor. If anyone questions or doubts our local police department, think again. They were professional, had the equipment they needed, and began going thoroughly step by step through our home. I cannot begin to thank each of them for the caring, detailed work, and making our home begin to feel safe again.

Friends came and friends phoned and you truly know why we live in a small town. Thanks again to all of you.
