THOMAS DEWITT GRIMES

Funeral for Thomas Dewitt Grimes, 80, of Rusk was at 2 p.m. Monday in the Wallace- Thompson Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Don Copeland and the Rev. Lee Welch officiating. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery.

Mr. Grimes died April 20. He was born March 18, 1927, in Rusk.

He was a World War II and Korean War veteran serving both in the U.S. Army and the U.S. Navy. He received the Purple Heart in the Korean War.

Preceding him in death were his grandson, Allen Strayhorn; brothers James Grimes and Bartee Grimes; his father, George W. Grimes and his mother, Rosa Grimes.

Survivors are two daughters, Sherry Jones of Maydelle and Debbie Strayhorn of Greenville; two sisters, Evelyn Todd of Freeport and Elsie Grogan of Jacksonville; a brother, R.V. Grimes of Auga Dulse; four grandchildren and seven greatgrandchildren.

Pallbearers were Gerald Grimes, Buddy (Dale) Grimes, Fred Strayhorn, Kenneth Lusk, Jim Johnson and Delton Clapp.

Calvin Jones was honorary pallbearer.
