JP Morris cleans up his docket

Justice of the Peace James Morris, Precinct 3, has instituted a program, "Justice and Mercy," designed to dispose of old cases in his court. From April 1-May 31, fines will be reduced to the minimum on outstanding charges. Also unserved or unexecuted warrant fees will be reversed. This applies to all Class C misdemeanors handled by Judge Morris' court. Texas Parks & Wildlife violations, truancy related cases court costs are not affected by the action.

This fine reduction program is solely designed to facilitate the closing of outdated and inactive cases and cases currently filed with the court that, in the court's discretion and judgement, would be best served by the policy. In most cases, the fines may be as low as $1 over and above the mandatory court costs and fees. In some cases, fines have minimums established by law that are different.
