Organizers say Rusk's 1st Bridal Show was a success
ROY REYNOLDS Rusk

The City of Rusk is earning the reputation as the "Promotion Capitol of Cherokee County."

The first-ever Bridal Show Saturday, March 24, was, in the words of Chamber President Penny Reynolds, "Outstanding. It's the first time Rusk had anything like this - an outstanding turnout."

An exuberant Karen Loden, the event's chairperson said, "People who were not even getting married were coming in. All vendors were excited."

A Mary Kay Director was quoted as saying that she had been to shows in larger towns than this, and for a town this size to have had this much participation, was excellent. Great show. They'll be back next year.

A highlight of the event was the fashion show. With amiable Kay "Baby" Epperson as master of ceremonies and a host of local models, the standingroom only crowd was treated to great outfits and wonderful homespun patter.

There were virtually no parking spaces left anywhere on or near Courthouse Square during the event.

Bob Goldsberry, the chamber's executive director, marvelled at how many different local businesses were available to do these kinds of services.

Connie Brown, chamber secretary and events coordinator, said, "This was an excellent opportunity for our local businesses to come together, bringing awareness to our community and the surrounding area. I give glory to God first, and thank the vendors and everyone who came. All the vendors had a great day, and many already want to book space for next year. This was very successful."
