TXU's rates don't compute For the past several years, I have been writing letters to the editor, the Texas Public Utility Commission, my state congressmen and various other state officials about the rates charged by TXU. After reading a recent story about the TXU audit performed by Potomac Economics Ltd., I dug out several years of TXU bills and calculated the actual per KWH rate that I paid for electricity. You will never see the rate on any of your bills, but if you divide the electricity charge only by the KWH used, there it is. For more than seven years, my per KWH rate was never the same two months in a row. In fact, one year my rate changed from 10 cents per KWH to 12 cents per KWH in one month, then dropped back to 9 cents the next month. The reason I am writing this letter is to try to get the citizens of East Texas to write or call every senator, representative, the PUC and every other person you can think of to put a stop to the price gouging by TXU, and the new owners if TXU is sold. I mailed 12 copies of my TXU rate chart to everybody on my TXU complaint list as well as Potomac Economics Ltd. Let's stop the TXU runaway money train. |
