CLARENCE MARTIN Funeral for Clarence Martin, 89, of Alto, formerly of Rochester, will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the Rochester First Baptist Church with the Rev. Herman Martin officiating. Burial will be in Rochester Cemetery under the direction of O.T. Allen & Son Funeral Home. Mr. Martin died Saturday. He was born Oct. 15, 1917, in Waco to Green and Martha Mills Martin. He lived in Rochester most of his life before moving to Alto five years ago. He was a cotton farmer. Preceding him in death were his wife, Lavada Martin; two sons, Joseph Martin and Mack Martin; a daughter, Dorothy Brantley; wife, Genell Martin; nine brothers and two sisters. Survivors are four sons and two daughters-in-law, Herman and Emmie Martin and Freddy and Vertie Martin, all of Alto and Larry Martin and Johnny Martin, both of Lubbock; three daughters and a son-in-law, Barbara Martin of Knox City, Ethel Smith of Abilene and Emma and Frank Garcia of Lubbock; a step-daughter, Ethel B. Slauger of Rochester; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and other relatives. Pallbearers were Tyron Martin, Freddy Martin, Shaun Martin, George Martin, Herman Martin and Marcus Martin. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home in Alto and from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Rochester. |
