JIMMIE LEE AND JOANNE JEAN CAMPBELL Graveside service for Jimmie Lee Campbell, 57, and his wife, Joanne Jean Campbell, 64, both of Rusk, was at 1 p.m. Friday at Roselawn Park in Palestine with the Rev. Dr. Barry Roberts officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Bailey & Foster Funeral Home, Palestine. Mr. and Mrs. Campbell died March 25 in an automobile accident on FM 241. Mr. Campbell was born Sept. 24, 1949, in Abilene to Grady Lee Campbell and Christine Bibb Sutherland. He served in the Navy and in the Army during the Vietnam War. He was a former police officer and sheriff 's deputy and was founder and a member of Sons of Confederate Veterans Camp No. 2009. He was a member of the Wells Masonic Lodge No. 915. Preceding him in death were his mother, Christine Sutherland, and sister, Christine Sue Rodgers. Mr. Campbell is survived by a daughter, Jamie Christine Larison of Overland Park, Kan.; a stepdaughter, Cindy Sherman of Oakwood; a stepson, Harold (Butch) Shank of Fort Worth; his father, Grady Lee Campbell of Abilene; a brother, Larry Lee Campbell of San Marcos; two grandchildren; and five step-grandchildren. Mrs. Campbell was born Sept. 25, 1942, in Pennsylvania to the late Harold R. and Irene Margie Long. She retired from the administration office of Rusk State Hospital and was a Catholic. Survivors are a daughter, Cindy Sherman of Oakwood; a son, Harold (Butch) Shank of Fort Worth; stepdaughter, Jamie Christine Larison of Overland Park, Kan.; a sister, Mary Nehila of Pennsylvania; five grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren. |
