Rusk PD receives federal homeland security grant

Congressman Jeb Hensarling (TX- 05) has announced that $12,670 in federal funding will go to the Rusk Police Department as part of the Department of Homeland Security's Commercial Equipment Direct Assistance Program (CEDAP).

"These dollars will help our law enforcement agents maximize their ability to respond to emergencies and protect the citizens of Rusk and Cherokee County," Hensarling said. "The funding enables communities like Rusk to afford essential training and equipment."

CEDAP provides small communities and rural areas with equipment and training to enhance the abilities of first responders in order to strengthen the overall level of preparedness.

In FY 2006, CEDAP will provide more than $34.6 million in equipment and training to law enforcement, fire departments and other first responders to help America prevent, protect against and respond to terrorist attacks, natural disasters and other emergencies.
