Lady Jackets roll through district

The Alto Lady Jackets' softball team is off to a great start in district play, said Head Coach Sharon Reid.

Alto, who struggled early in the season, currently holds a 6-0 record in district play.

"We struggled early, of course, we were playing 3A and 4A schools," coach Reid said.

Alto beat Wells 23-0 on March 20. Coach Reid said the team from Wells only had nine players.

As for Alto, the Lady Jackets have two seniors on the team, Margo Kahla and Molly Pearman.

Coach Reid said she is pleased with pitcher Heaven Lyles and catcher Abby Scott.

"They have done an outstanding job pitching and hitting," she said.

Coach Reid said the team is loaded with sophomores and freshmen.

Alto begins the second round of district play at home against Mt. Enterprise Friday. Game time is 5 p.m.

The Lady Jackets travel to Chireno on April 2.
